April Fools!

The boys were lots of fun on April Fools Day this year. Mason kept jumping out at me and shouting, "April Fourteenth!" (April 14 is his birthday - he's been looking forward to it for months and has a one-track mind!) I took them to the party store and let them each pick out one trick item. Corbin chose a lighter that squirted water and Mason picked some fake flies. Dad had no idea what he was in for when he came home from work!

For dinner I made meatloaf "cupcakes" with mashed potato "frosting", sugar cookie "hamburgers," and apple "fries." It's funny how food that would otherwise be a delicious meal is not appealing when it's in the wrong form. We had lots of leftovers, but they gobbled them up the next night in the form of sloppy joes!

While I fixed dinner the boys played in one of the cupboards.

Mason didn't quite understand the whole joke thing. He didn't understand why dinner was so goofy, and I'm not sure I ever convinced him that the fly on the ceiling was fake (even though they were his flies)! He woke up from his nap on the couch to see it on the ceiling above him, and couldn't wait for Dad to get home and "get" it! And eventually Scott made it home to save the day!
