Oregon

We had a great visit with everyone in Oregon. This is the first time in several years that Scott and Kim have made it up (and Boston's first time!)

Kathy is great with kids - I remember how much fun she was when I was young! She has a way of putting aside everything else and making you feel so important, and there's alway something to explore and discover! One time when Spencer was young and visiting the beach house, he woke Kathy up in the middle of the night and asked her if she wanted to play cards. She said okay and got up to get ready. It turned out he had been sleep walking, and by the time she came out he was back in his bed! I hope to have that kind of dedication and relationship with my kids!

The boys couldn't wait to see the legendary Uncle Tom, keeper of the four wheelers!

This is on the beach at Devil's elbow, a little spot of beach surrounded by trees and cliffs. At the right time of year there are sea lions playing in the water.

Kim took this picture of the lake behind the Clough's beach house. It is the perfect place to be. (Well, it would be if you added about 20 degrees!) First thing in the morning there is usually a beautiful mist over the lake. After it clears the water is as smooth and calm as glass. Excellent for water skiing!

Corbin was so brave on the tube!

Spencer went for refreshingly cool swim with Corbin and me...brrrrr!

Mason liked the boat...as long as we were going nice and slow!

Captain Corbin at the helm!

I stole this from Kim's blog! Looks like Corbin's been hitting the Sobe again! He must have been exauhsted - that stuff usually perks him right up!

Roasting hot dogs down by the lake.

Scott and Spencer having a bonding moment across the river! It's a good thing Kali's not the jealous type!

I'm so lucky that Corbin and Mason are such great kids! Everywhere I go people comment on how cute they are together. Corbin takes his job as big brother very seriously!

...and Mason's more than happy to follow!

The tide was out, so there were all kinds of cool creatures on the rocks:
Snails...

Mussels...

Starfish, crabs, and crawdads!...

When Corbin took the mussels for show-and-tell we did some research and found out that starfish like to eat them! (We found this picture on the internet!)

Spencer, Kali, Corbin, Scott, Mason, Boston, Grandpa Brent

It was neat to watch the waves pounding up against the cliffs. This is low tide...during high tide it's even more amazing!

Grandpa's head must be comfortable!

Gotta love that ocean breeze!

Finally, a family picture where we're not camping!

The boys are standing next to Haceta Head Lighthouse. This is up on the cliffs above Devil's Elbow.

Hiking down from the ligthouse.

If there's dirt, they'll find it!

One last adventure by the lake before it's time to go!

When we got home, we had lots of beans waiting for us in our garden! Thanks Steve and Tasha for holding down the fort (and the dogs) for us!
